Award-Winning Park

Sugar Sand Park has a community center, a theatre, science exhibits and many tactile learning opportunities. There are special events, nature activities and more. Several awards have been bestowed upon the park for being an outstanding family destination. Just to name a few, the park won Parenting magazine’s Kids Crown award for 2007, the 2007 Best of the Best Parks award, the 2006 Bronze Award for Best Creative Arts in Performance Activity and the Bronze Award for the Best Local Attraction.

Youth and Adult Programs

Some of the Sugar Sand Park Community Center programs include youth programs like drawing, Kindermusik, imaginary play, storytime, crafts, movie presentations and other activities. During the holidays, kids can make gingerbread houses and see a holiday magic show. Adult programs include learning to write for children, beginning and advanced watercolor, guitar, photography and movie classics. The park also hosts a “Meet The Artist” series in which artistic creations are displayed alongside the artists that created them. The artist explains the details and inspiration for the creation.

The Field House

The Field House at Boca Raton’s Sugar Sand Park is a gymnasium featuring top-notch athletic programs for kids and adults of any age. The Field House offers special events throughout the year and is open to the public for basketball and volleyball pick-up games. Other Field House programs include adult basketball leagues, kid and teen football, hockey, cheerleading, basketball, gymnastics and fencing. The center also includes a program for younger children called Kidokinetics, incorporating a wide range of sports activities plus Frisbee, obstacle courses, hula-hoop and more.

Exploring Nature

Sugar Sand Park also has some of the most beautiful natural resources anywhere in Boca Raton. The Nature Trails at Sugar Sand Park include the Sand Pine and Slash Pine trails, winding through the Florida scrubby pine flatwoods. Each trail offers Boca Raton beauty at its very best.

The park has other attractions to entice families for the day. There is a Science Explorium offering hands-on play, plus a science playground. The carousel at the park has thirty Dentzel decorated horsel for children to ride. Finally, the park offers pavilions for families to gather and enjoy the park together.
