What is APA reg.? Someone is giving me a purebred Bichon Frise male, 8 months w/ papers, but he is APA reg.?

Only registries I’m familiar with are AKC, CKC, APRI, & ACA. My dogs now are registered with the AKC, and I’ve never used any of the others!
Hmm… I didn’t even see APA on the list. I wonder if she meant APR? Anyhow, if we still get him, he’ll be altered & just a pet.
Yeah, I wouldn’t pay big money for a dog unless it was with AKC. lol I’ve heard too many bad stories about the others – People getting a dog that was older than papers said (yikes!) is what scares me the most! He’s free, and needs a home. I was just wondering what registry that was, as I’ve never heard that one!

Good, you shouldn’t EVER use any others. AKC is the only reputable registry in the states; all others are used solely by puppy mills and backyard breeders.

I didn’t see APA either; I saw ACA and APR…. maybe APA is a new one?? who knows….

Found it — seems there are 2 APAs according to this site, the “American Pet Registration” and the “American Purebred Registration.”
